Jamberry Nails

When Lucy was a baby I really didn't know how to take care of myself. This time around I have really been able to find ways to make time for myself outside of being a mother. For example, my exercising. I have found a lot of joy in being a mother and now I am also finding a lot of joy in being a woman and friend and in being myself.

This leads to my next challenge that I have taken on. I am obsessed with Jamberry nail wraps. So I became a consultant. They are these awesome vinyl wraps that stick to your nails after you apply heat and pressure. You can check out all of the different options here:  http://kelseyshugart.jamberrynails.net/

I received my consultant kit on Wednesday and put some on my toes and fingers. They are so cute!

I had my Launch Party on Saturday and my good friends came out to support me. Thanks guys!

I had a friend teach me how to do my makeup this week and I tried it out today for church. So fun! I don't have the right product but I think I did a pretty good job with what I had.

5 month old update

The boys are 5 months old! The last 2 full months have been full of sickness. We haven't had a break! I'm not exaggerating when I say that. All of us went through having a cold and nasty cough, one sickness overlapping the other. Then Lucy had pink eye and swimmer's ear. Then Luke and Jacob got pink eye. Then Luke got an ear infection. Then I had to take him in because his poor little body reacted to the Amoxicillin and he had terrible diarrhea that caused a rash that started to bleed. Then Ben got the stomach flu, then Luke, then me, then Jacob. Then Luke got a double ear infection. In the meantime I had to go to the doctors because I STILL have aunt flo from giving birth 5 months ago. Weird, I know. And in the meantime we had to see a plastic surgeon about the boys' helmets. Then we went to FitWell to get the boys casted for helmets. Then we had DDI Vantage come and the boys indeed have Torticollis. Their necks are tight and they need physical therapy so we have the first home visit this Wednesday. I'm pretty sure Jacob has a sore throat because his voice is raspy and I have a sore throat myself. I seriously have no idea how I have kept my sanity.

We started the boys on rice cereal and jarred fruits/veggies.

Luke has started to roll over. He's in size 2 diapers and in 0-3 month clothes. He's been fussy because of his ear infections but has been a trooper. He's really good and eating from a spoon and he still chews on his fist all the time.

Jacob still doesn't move. I think its difficult for him because of his size. He's in size 3 diapers and in 6-9 month clothes. He can sleep without being swaddled and can fall asleep anywhere. It's amazing. He has two bottom teeth that came in. He doesn't rely on his pacifier much anymore except for initially falling asleep at nap time.

4th of July

For the 4th of July I started out the day by running the Barrus Memorial 5k in Grantsville. It was my very first 5k. It was on day 60 of the BBMC so I counted that as my exercise. I thought that because I had done intense workouts that I would be able to run a 5k without stopping. WRONG! Apparently to train for a 5k you need to run. Hmmmm... Imagine that! I ran the first mile and then pooped out. I was really slow but I did finish! During the run I was thinking to myself that this was the dumbest thing ever and that I didn't know why I signed up. And my first thought when crossing the finish line was that I was going to do better the next year.

Then we watched the parade. It was hot and sunny so we made a little canopy of shade for the boys. Lucy got lots of candy. Then we headed home.

When we got home we flew our kite that Jen and Paul gave us for Christmas a while back. So fun. And it was crazy!

BBMC 2.0

One of my New Year's resolutions was to lose all of the baby weight. I was so motivated and started exercising as soon as I reached 6 weeks postpartum. On May 5th Briana from Bikini Body Mommy started another one of her 90 day challenges. Lets be real, I'll never wear a bikini. But her exercise plans are amazing. They are 20 minutes a day and very doable. She even has meal plans. She has youtube videos for each day. My college roommate, Deise, was my accountability partner. I gained 56 pounds during the pregnancy and by the time I started the challenge I was down 43 pounds. I worked so hard for 60 days straight. I did every workout, drank lots of water, and did major portion control. I stopped after 60 days because everyone including myself got sick. I am proud to say that I have lost all 56 pounds!

I never did take a picture of what I looked like right after giving birth. But here is what I looked like at 37 weeks pregnant and then again on day 30 of the challenge.

Since the picture on the right I have lost an additional 10 pounds. It was a lot of work but I feel great. I didn't finish the challenge but I am so happy with the results. I am stronger. I feel better. I feel capable. My posture has improved. I highly recommend it. Briana is great! You can check out her Youtube videos by just searching Bikini Body Mommy Challenge.
