New Year's Resolutions

I love making goals for myself. Now that I am not in school it is really helpful to make resolutions at the new year. It ensures that I am constantly trying to improve.

Follow-up of 2012's Goals

1. Save up for a second car.  Accomplished. We're ready to pay for that baby in full! Now it's the issue of finding the right car. It's harder than I thought.
2. Be more fit and toned. This was a complete fail. I weigh the same but boy has that weigh shifted to areas it should not be. I have no desire to exercise either.
3.Put in our front lawn and build our utilities room. Accomplished. We worked pretty hard on the yard together and the utilities room was all Ben.
4. Go on more dates, at least once a month. This area could use improvement. We went on a handful of dates. We went to the movies twice. I'm sure we went on more dates but my memory is failing me.
5. Completely stop complaining/criticizing. Fail! After my trip to California in September I became extremely aware of how perfect my life and husband are. I was negative-free for a good three weeks and then fell back into my bad habit.
6. Continue to read like in 2011 and continue going to the temple every month. We went to the temple every month. I only read 15 novels but that's better than nothing right?

This year I tried to pick goals that were measurable. Goals that I could set and without a doubt know whether I failed or accomplished them. Last year I had a few vague goals that could have been more specific.

2013 Goals

1. Read 25 novels. I am currently reading Anne of Avonlea by L.M. Montgomery and I don't like it.
2. Get Lucy in gymnastics and preschool. I can't put Lucy in gymnastics until we buy a car but I started the preschool process. We've narrowed it down to two.
3. Buy a car. I have been waiting for this moment my whole life. My own car! Woot.
4. Go on a big vacation. Ben and I want to go on a tropical vacation just the two of us.
5. Build back porch. This is a goal I made for Ben.
6. Frame entire basement. Also for Ben
7. Catch up on scrapbooking. I am a year behind.
8. Get 100% visiting teaching.
9. Send out birthday cards to all family members.
10. Follow my daily schedule. What is that you ask? See below.
11. Have FHE every week.
12. Read the Doctrine & Covenants and The Pearl of Great Price.
13. Go to the temple every month.
14. Go on a date every month.

I also want to continue my goal of completely refraining from all criticizing and complaining. I just don't know how to measure my progress and to make it attainable. I also want to exercise more but I don't know how to make myself more motivated. And let's be real, I didn't make it a goal because it probably won't happen.

I moved my daily schedule printout from the kitchen refrigerator to my nightstand so I can see it when I wake up and before I go to bed. I usually follow it pretty closely minus the exercising part.

Here's the daily schedule I made several months ago that has done wonders in our home:
