Oahu, Hawaii Trip: Day 3

On Friday we went on a whole bunch of hikes. The first place we went to is Pali Lookout. You can drive all the way to it. It is so windy there. Chickens are everywhere on the island. They are considered pests.

We then hiked Monoa Falls. The polar bear scenes in the series Lost were filmed here. It was a decent hike and it was more like a trickle at the end and not falls.

Next we hiked to the Diamond Head Crater. It was a more intense hike. Eventually when you get close to the top you reach an old fire station. We had to climb through that to get to the highest point of the crater. I was exhausted after this one.

The last hike we did on Friday was a hike to an old lighthouse that was also on Lost.

Oahu, Hawaii Trip: Day 2

On Thursday March 13th we went to the Dole Pineapple Plantation. We took a train ride around the plantation that gave us some history and trivia. After the train ride we did the Pineapple maze. It had been raining that morning so it was muddy. The red dirt stains, so we wrapped our shoes in shopping bag to protect them. It's the largest pineapple maze in the world. The goal was to find eight pit stops in the maze and mark your card with a specific stencil. They gave us a miniature map of the maze to help us out and so we took turns navigating through the maze. Then we enjoyed some Dole whip, and bought some pineapple gumballs in the store.

On the way back we stopped at the beach. Later that evening we went to the Temple Laie. After the temple we ate at Seven Brothers, a popular hamburger joint. It was the college hot spot.
