Lucy's First Week of Kindergarten

On Monday Lucy had her Kindergarten orientation at the school. Her teacher is Ms. Meghan Mouritsen. We were so excited to have her. When Lucy saw her she ran and gave her a big hug. She is in our neighborhood and is the 2nd counselor in the Primary presidency in our ward. Lucy's class has 21 kids in it. 7 of them are in our ward primary. It is nice to see so many familiar faces. It helps that I have a group of moms that are all going through the same thing.

On Tuesday was her first full day of school. She took the bus which was so fun for her. She was the only Kindergartener on the bus and was just chatting up all of the older kids in line. She is not shy at all. She kept asking me to take pictures of her and instead of saying "cheese" she was saying "Kindergarten." She wasn't embarrassed at all about me being there at the bus stop. I followed the bus to the school and watched her and made sure she made it to class. I walked down the hall and a 10 year old stopped me and said, "Lucy made it to class!" It made me laugh because everyone knows who she is. This happens all the time when we're out in the neighborhood too. I don't know who these kids and people are but they always know Lucy.

On Wednesday I let her walk to bus stop by herself and she walked home by herself too. The bus stop is at the park across the street so I can see her from my window. Apparently she got lost on her way from the bus to her class again so someone helped her. It wasn't a big deal to her at all. I am so glad she is so confident and just asks for help when she needs it.  So on Thursday I drove to the school to peek in her class and it looks like she had finally figured out how to get to class when the bell rings because she was sitting at her desk.

I can't believe she's in kindergarten! She's such a big girl now. And so brave!
